Senior Activities are held at the Percy Bakker Community Center, 9333 'E' Avenue (map below).

Fitness and Fun class at the Percy Bakker Community Center is currently being held outdoors at Lime Street Park. 

Fitness and Fun Exercise Program

Elderly men and women doing Fitness and Fun Exercise Program

A workout for men and women to stay fit and increase strength and endurance while relieving stress in a friendly, social atmosphere. The class includes low-impact exercises, line dances, latin moves, waltzes, step, strength training, and flexibility with equipment provided, all performed to each person’s individual ability level. Music includes Big Band to Ballroom, Latin to Country, Belafonte to Beyonce.

Instructor is National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified; CPR and First Aid Certified.

Pinochle

Every Wednesday seniors are invited to enjoy the fun of Pinochle.

DAY: Wednesday
TIME: 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
FEE: Free

Quilt Guild

Desert Winds Quilt Guild meets the first Tuesday of each month. Doors open at 8:30 a.m. and the meeting starts at 9:30 a.m. Come and learn how to make a quilt or teach others. Each meeting has lessons, a raffle, food, fun, and fellowship for all!


Garden Club

The Hesperia Garden Club is devoted to the development of all phases of gardening of fruits, vegetables, trees, and flowers. We are involved in the betterment and beautification of the community and the exchange of information and ideas with fellow gardeners. The Hesperia Garden Club has many activities scheduled throughout the year such as the Home and Garden Show, field trips, and presentations at our club meetings. Please join us for a meeting on the 2nd Tuesday of each month (except July/August) at 1:00 p.m.


Weekday Lunch

Barstow Senior Meals serves lunches for a voluntary donation of $3.00 for 60 years of age and over and a voluntary donation of $7.50 for 59 years of age and under. Meals are served Monday through Friday at 11:15 a.m. excluding the following holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving (including the following Friday), Christmas, and New Year's Day.

September 2021 Meals on Wheels Calendar. Partial funding for this service has been provided by the county of S.B. DAAS through grant award from the CA Department of Aging. Every meal is served with 1% low-fat milk. Wednesday, September 1; Pot roast, mashed potatoes, carrots, green salad, wheat roll, raspberry tart. Thursday, September 2nd; kielbasa, rice, broccoli salad, wheat bread, peaches. Friday, September 3rd; baked fish, rice pilaf, green beans, wheat roll, pears. Wednesday, September 8th; pork roast, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, green salad, wheat roll, orange. Thursday, September 9th; orange chicken, fried brown rice, stir fry veggies, egg roll, peaches. Friday, September 10th; tuna salad sandwich, tomato soup, carrots and celery, apple. Monday, September 13th; Sheppard's pie, sliced beets, green salad, biscuit, banana pudding. Tuesday, September 14th; beef stroganoff, peas and carrots, garden salad, wheat roll, pears. Wednesday, September 15th; chili dog, potato salad, cole slaw, fruit cocktail. Thursday, September 17th; baked cod, brown rice, broccoli, green salad, jell-o mixed with fruit. Monday, September 20th; beef burrito, rice, beans, tossed salad, peaches. Tuesday, September 21st; salisbury steak, au gratin potaotes, carrots, green salad, corn bread, peaches. Wednesday, September 22nd; baked ham, mashed sweet potatoes, green beans, green salad, wheat roll, gingerbread. Thursday, September 23rd; spaghetti, broccoli, spinach salad, garlic bread, fruit cocktail. Friday, September 24th; fried chicken, scalloped potatoes, cole slaw, wheat bread, pears. Tuesday, September 28th; pork roast, red potatoes, carrots, green salad, apricots. Wednesday, September 28th; beef stew, pea salad, corn bread, peaches. Quilts of Valor

The Victor Valley QOV meets every second Wednesday of each month, from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm.  the mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation is to cover service members and veterans touched by war with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor.  For more information please visit www.qovf.org.
