Beginning players will learn the basics of tennis. We will develop ground strokes, volleys and serves so that your child develops good technique to rally effectively. I will teach the basics of scoring, sportsmanship and footwork to make sure your child learns everything they need to play tennis!

Intermediate players will establish a foundation of athleticism that your child can build on if they decide to pursue playing tennis seriously.  We will work on developing kids' ability to consistently place the ball in the court, hit a variety of shots with increased pace, and start working on basic tactics.

Meet our Tennis Lesson instructor, Robert D. Love!

HRPD:  Why do you teach the class?
RDL:  I hope to jump-start many kids interest in tennis and develop a broader community of tennis players in Hesperia.  Playing tennis as a child helped shape my character and can develop focus, discipline and perseverance in our children.  Playing a sport like tennis develops athleticism and good sportsmanship to form a great foundation for kids. In addition, playing tennis is a lot of fun and can be a great way to make new friends. I love seeing the look on a child's face when they hit a good shot!

HRPD:  What is your background in the area?
RDL:  I was ranked in the top 600 nationally/top 50 state-wide as a junior tennis player in Florida and I was a 4-time Intramural Champion at Auburn University.  I taught summer tennis camps for elementary-aged kids through teenagers for pay across 4 summers.  I have been trained by several ATP Tour pros so I know what it takes to train your child to play beginning through high-level tennis!

HRPD:  What are the benefits of taking your classes?
RDL:  The goal of the Beginner class is to establish your child's ability to play the sport of tennis.

The goal of the Beginning Tennis 2 class is to prepare your child to play competitive tennis such as for the junior varsity or varsity tennis team.

HRPD:  What will students learn taking your classes?
RDL:  Beginning players will learn the basics of tennis.  We will develop groundstrokes, volleys, and serves so that your child develops good technique to rally effectively.  I will teach the basics of scoring, sportsmanship, and footwork to make sure your child learns everything they need to play tennis!
