Self Defense

Classes begin in April!

This class will primarily focus on basic self-defense concepts combined with karate blocking and striking techniques.  It includes exercises that will increase strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination. Students will be taught how to respect one's self, respect others, and improve their focus and concentration through training.  This class is for students striving to become more disciplined and confident in the pursuit of a sound mind and sound body.  It includes techniques from Korean Martial Arts like:  Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido and Kumdo (the way of the Korean Sword).  Uniform is required and available for purchase through the instructor.

  • AGE: 8 years and older
  • DAY(S) / PLACE: Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Rick Novack Community Center
  • TIME(S): 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. OR 7:15 - 8:15 p.m.

Mini Tigers Shotokan Karate

Children as young as 4 can start learning karate with the Mini Tigers class. They will be taught the basic fundamentals of Shotokan Karate in a creative and fun environment while at the same time learning how to become more focused and confident. A karate uniform is available for purchase with the instructor.

  • AGE: 4 to 6 years old
  • DAY(S) / PLACE: Monday and/or Wednesday at the Rick Novack Community Center
  • TIME(S): 5:30 to 6:00 p.m.

Beginning/Intermediate Shotokan Karate (Youth & Adult)

This class is designed to teach the basic fundamentals of Shotokan Karate. In training, you will receive physical fitness, cardio workout and weight loss. Other added benefits are an increase in balance, flexibility and self discipline. Join us and learn karate in a controlled family atmosphere. A karate uniform is available for purchase with the instructor.

  • AGE: 7 & up
  • DAY(S) / PLACE: Monday and/or Wednesday
  • LOCATION: Rick Novack Community Center
  • TIME: 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.
  • LENGTH: Monthly
  • STARTS: First Monday or Wednesday of each month
  • FEE: $40/mo for one class per week; or $50/mo for two classes per week.

Advanced Shotokan Karate*                                                  (Youth & Adult Purple to Black Belt)

Continue your training in Shotokan and practice Karate-Do (Way of Empty Hand). This is an excellent way to perfect your Shotokan skills and increase your balance and flexibility. Sensei Paul Walker will help you learn in a family group environment. A karate uniform is available for purchase with the instructor.
